THE STORY
We were entering the Advent season in 2021, and our family was busy with finishing school, last minue activities, attending parties, buying gifts, making holiday plans, moving the elf (!!), baking cookies, obsessing over decorations, and on and on.
But you know what was not on the list? Being quiet to reflect on what the season was all about. Reading verses as a family to understand that our greatest gift is not, in fact, found under a tree. I knew things needed to change.
I have spent the last several months researching about the Advent season, choosing verses, painting watercolor angels, editing the cards, and assembling the Advent scripture card set so that my family, and hopefully yours too, will have a guideline of 25 verses (and more) to read during the month of December.
Read the Advent scripture cards in the morning before school and work, during dinner, or before bedtime. Set them out around your house so you can see scripture throughout your day. Put a verse in your car to see every time you are headed on another errand. Frame an angel and gift it to a friend. Be intentional about slowing down this season, when life wants you to do anything but. And, when the season comes to a close, use the enclosed bag to pack the cards and stand up for next year.
ABOUT THE ADVENT SEASON
The Advent Scripture Card series was created out of a desire to share verses with my family to help guide our hearts as we celebrated the season of Advent. I combined the angels I painted and released in the fall of 2021 along with new angels coming in 2022 with key scripture surrounding the birth of Jesus. The Advent Scripture Card series features 25 verses (and many with additional reading prompts) with a full watercolor angel print on the back of each card. The verses follow the traditional themes of the Advent candles:
Prophecy Candle | Candle of Hope to remind us of the promises of scripture to send a Savior
Bethlehem Candle | Candle of Preparation to remind us of the humble birth of Christ and to prepare our hearts for Jesus during this season
Shepherds Candle | Candle of Joy to remind us that Christ came for all people
Angels Candle | Candle of Love to remind us of the good news that the angels announced
Christ Candle to remind us of the birth of Christ and the second coming
THE DETAILS
Each Advent Scriptuer Card set comes with a set of 25 scripture cards measuring 4” square. Each card features a Camilla Moss watercolor angel on the back that can be framed for display all year long!
To make the Advent Scripture Card series extra special this year, I paired the advent scripture card set with a brushed gold brass easel (to hold the entire set together!), and I partnered with a local seamstress to create a custom pouch to store the set for years to come.
As you enter this Advent season, I pray that these verses guide you in preparing your hearts for Christ’s birth into the world as it is today. These verses remind us of God’s promises and provide hope and joy as we await and celebrate his birth!
