THE SUBJECTS

I’m continuously drawn to bright, colorful scenes from nature. Whether it’s a butterfly fluttering past, or the simple yet colorful flowers I see on my neighborhood walks, God’s beauty is inspiring! I paint what I’m drawn to and with colors that fill my heart and soul with joy. This series combines chinoiserie inspired dogwood branches and blooms, colorful wildflower gardens, and of course, my favorite, butterflies. Butterflies always put a smile on my face and heart, they are wonderous and delicate creatures that inspire the most curious of artists. I hope you enjoy spotting each whimsical watercolor butterfly in the series.

THE PALETTE

I am naturally drawn to an overall blue and green color palette, and this series has plenty of both! From the sky above to the leaves on trees and the grass beneath our toes, these colors are calming, soothing, and ones most of us see daily. My paintings (and textiles) are strongly inspired with this palette in mind; however, I enjoy adding the unexpected pop of color in my paintings. My colorful wildflower garden paintings have a bit of red included to keep things interesting! Butterflies with unique colors, details and patterns? Why not! The “Branches, Birds and Butterflies” series is full of bright colors in varying shades found in nature to fill your space, heart and mind with joy and happiness!

FINAL THOUGHTS

I’m thankful for the opportunity to pickup my paint brush and paint away each day. While it is often difficult to keep up with sharing all the small details of my art business, you can be sure that I’m painting even when you don’t see it!
