Art with a Purpose: Framing Tutorial for Affirmation Cards

The Affirmation Cards for Boys and Girls were created for our sweet little ones to remind them that they are beautiful, strong, brave, worthy and wonderfully made.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Psalm 139:14

I love the idea of framing the affirmation cards to display in their room, beautiful artwork with a purpose! This is an easy project, you can do it too!

SUPPLIES

A set of Affirmation Cards for boys or girls

12” x 12” frames

12” x 12” matboard with 3.75” x 3.75” opening (see instructions below)

Archival tape to adhere the cards to the matboard

SOURCES

For a semi-custom frame approach, I love this gold beaded frame from Art to Frames

  • Set image size to 4” x 4”

  • Outer frame size should be 13” x 13” (for this particular frame - this measures outside the frame)

  • Super white mat color. Select “advanced mode” under the mat section and set the side borders to 4”. The site will automatically adjust the mat to 1/4” less than the stated opening.

Or for a ready made frame…

Set of 4 white frames from Amazon (requires custom matboard)

Set of 4 black frames from Amazon (requires custom matboard)

Set of 3 gold frames from Amazon (requires custom matboard)

Custom matboard ($7 - $10/each) from matboardandmore.com

  • Primary mat color - Smooth White

  • Outer size: 12” x 12”

  • Opening size: 3.75” x 3.75”

Archival tape

ASSEMBLE AND HANG

Each set of Affirmation Cards comes with 10 cards to choose from for your frames - select the ones best suited for your child for framing!

Use the archival tape to adhere the card to the back of the matboard

Assemble the frame and hang!

Finally and most importantly, read the cards often with your child, discuss what they mean and why they are important!

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
